حسن التعليل Husn atTa’leel/ Conceit
Literally: to find an alternative explanation for something of to justify. Rhetorically: when a common known fact, reason or explanation of something is rejected by the speaker, author or writer implicitly or explicitly and replaced by providing one’s own reasoning that may be more suitable to support his claims, even if it is not necessarily the real explanation or reason. This is done as a  form of exaggeration and effectiveness. For example: وما كلفة البدر المنير قديمةً    ولكنها في وجهه من أثر اللطم. Here the poet claims that the cloudiness on the moon is due to the moon slapping itself to show empathy by partaking in the poet’s sadness and express sorrow rather than being a result of a natural cause.
